Child, Adolescent And Adult Psychotherapist
My name is Victoria Wingate-Rivera (she/her). I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. I specialize in providing trauma-informed care for individuals navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and loss. I have 10+ years of experience working with children, youth, and families and have worked with a diverse population of children, adolescents, and adults. Growing up in a Puerto Rican family, I've always valued the importance of understanding cultural backgrounds. I'm particularly passionate about working with multicultural and 2nd-generation Latine children and adults, helping them navigate their unique challenges. Victoria also has experience providing individual therapy to individuals on the autism spectrum and offers neurodiverse affirming care.
In my free time, I love to enjoy hobbies like crafting, gaming, and spending time with my husband and our pets!
Approach
My goal as a clinician is to help individuals feel empowered in their lives. Whether working with children, adolescents, or adults, I work from a trauma-informed lens and believe in a holistic approach to healing - targeting both the cognitive and somatic components of healing. This looks like working through thoughts and feelings as well as working with the nervous system through mindfulness, visualization, and EMDR-related techniques.
