Our Story
Arbit Center for Mental Health
Meet our our director,
Ruthie Arbit, LICSW, MA
Arbit Center for Mental Health began in 2016 as a solo private practice founded by Ruthie Arbit, LICSW, MA, with a vision of creating a space where exceptional care and meaningful community impact could exist side by side. What started in a single office in Washington, DC has grown into a collaborative, multi location practice serving individuals and families across the DMV and beyond, now home to both the Arbit Center for Mental Health and The Arbit ADHD Center.
From the beginning, our work has been guided by a commitment to equity, accessibility, and deeply personalized care. Today, our multidisciplinary team of therapists, evaluators, and psychiatrists works together to provide coordinated support across therapy, psychological evaluations, and medication management, making comprehensive mental health care easier to access in one place.
Ruthie Arbit, our founder and director, is a pediatric, perinatal, and infant mental health specialist with nearly fifteen years of experience supporting children, parents, and families. She has worked in schools, hospitals, early intervention programs, and therapeutic nurseries, and serves as clinical faculty at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Her work as a clinician, educator, and advocate reflects her dedication to evidence based care, social justice, and supporting families through every stage of life.
As a women owned practice rooted in the Washington metropolitan area, we are committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities while continuing to expand our reach through in person and telehealth services. At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: healing happens through connection, expertise, and compassionate partnership.
