Clinical Manager, Registered Play Therapist, Perinatal, Adolescent & Adult Psychotherapist

Licensed in Washington, DC & Virginia, In-Person and Telehealth

My name is Lindsey and I am a family-focused mental health counselor and registered play therapist with many years of experience working with children and families who are facing significant stress. I believe all families are unique and I strive to create a space where families can build upon their strengths and resilience while learning new skills.

I am a pediatric and perinatal therapist with over 12 years of experience working with children and families at Children’s National Hospital.

I specialize in treating early childhood anxiety, pediatric OCD, specific phobias including medical anxiety, and ARFID (Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder).

I am also a registered play therapist specializing in early childhood trauma, chronic and complex medical diagnosis, grief, and divorce. I often use art, music, yoga and movement to create a space for healing. As a play therapist, I feel it is also important to work with parents and caregivers. This includes providing developmental expertise and evidence-based strategies to support your child at home and in the community.

I have years of experience working with parents in and beyond the perinatal period. This includes treating perinatal OCD, trauma, anxiety and depression. I use a strengths-based approach and often use EMDR, mindfulness and self-compassion practices in our work together.

Approach

My approach is grounded in supporting kids, teens and families to feel more confident, capable, and effective navigating the real world, including school demands, peer relationships, and family dynamics, while staying true to who they are. Therapy is practical, evidence-based, and tailored to your child’s unique strengths and goals, with an emphasis on fostering insight and building skills to navigate everyday life.

Many of the clients I work with appear to be “doing fine” on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or exhausted underneath. That overwhelm often shows up as big emotions (especially at home), social stress, difficulty with transitions, or growing frustration around school and daily expectations.

I work closely with parents as partners in the process. I take time to understand each family’s context, values, and culture, and draw on evidence-based strategies to support parents in ways that feel realistic and sustainable. I aim to create a collaborative process that reduces shame and self-blame and supports families in responding more effectively to everyday challenges.
