Alyza Weinberg, LICSW, LCSW-C

Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult & Perinatal Psychotherapist

Licensed in DC, Maryland, Virginia, Texas & Utah (Telehealth)

Alyza is a licensed clinical social worker with a decade of experience. Her clinical experience began working in DC Public Schools supporting students navigate the challenges of middle school and high school. During this time, she honed her skills building collaborative relationships with families navigating complex mental health diagnoses and neurodiverse kids. After working in schools, Alyza went onto build a community mental health program supporting teens and young adults who were survivors of sexual violence. From there, her experiences led her to begin working with individuals in the perinatal period specifically looking at the ways in which trauma can impact the experience of becoming parents and parenting.

Approach

I believe that every client is unique and my approach is tailored to each person’s individual experience. I partner with clients to discover which modality works best for their inner world and challenges. We work together to uncover patterns of behavior and thought processes that are no longer working for you. Working together, my hope is that not only will you have symptom relief but that you will also uncover different relationships to yourself and others.

I have specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy and mindfulness. I see these approaches as tools in our collective toolbox to uncover which approaches work best for each individual.

I believe that collaborative care is essential and am happy to coordinate care with other providers, schools and doctors.

I am committed to maintaining an anti-oppressive and LGBTQIA+ affirming practice.
